I believe everyone deserves to feel beautiful, to be celebrated, and accepted just as they are.
DEIB photography is a practice that emphasizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. It involves intentionally representing and amplifying voices, stories, and perspectives of individuals and communities from diverse backgrounds, including those that have been historically marginalized or underrepresented. DEIB photography aims to challenge stereotypes, promote understanding, and foster empathy by showcasing the richness and complexity of human experiences. It involves actively seeking out and providing opportunities for individuals from underrepresented groups to participate in and contribute to the creation and consumption of visual narratives. As a DEIB photographer, I prioritize creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their unique identity markers. I understand and respect that everyone has their own pace, preferences, and comfort level in front of the camera. That's why I offer personalized sessions with accommodations that can be tailored to suit your needs.
Learn more about my perspective on DEIB Photography:
Diversity:
I actively seek out individuals from diverse backgrounds to feature in my portfolio and promotional materials. This diversity includes people of different ethnicities, races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, body types, abilities, and socioeconomic statuses. I am excited to provide photography services to a diverse clientele.
Equity:
I prioritize equitable access to my photography services for all clients, regardless of their background or identity. This effort involves offering sliding-scale pricing options, providing in-session accommodation for physical and mental abilities, and keeping an open dialogue to ensure my client's needs are accommodated.
Inclusivity:
My photo shoots are conducted in safe and respectful environments where all participants are made to feel comfortable and valued. I am here to listen to the concerns and preferences of my clients, and address any issues that arise with sensitivity and professionalism.
Belonging:
I want my clients to feel accepted, valued, and celebrated for who they are. This involves creating an inclusive atmosphere during photoshoots, where clients feel empowered to express themselves authentically. By honoring my client's unique identities and experiences, the images reflect their true and most beautiful selves. & More:
These efforts and practices require continual learning, education, and growth. Committing to DEIB principles and their application in photography includes ongoing education, engaging in ongoing conversations, and a willingness to self-reflect as I strive to create safer, more inclusive, and more equitable spaces with my work.
